Zwilling J.A. Henckels knives are legendary for sharpness and strength. The German brand, one of the oldest in the world, makes the top-rated knives on Consumer Reports. The knives look so sleek that, when you open a factory-sealed Henckels box, it’s hard to imagine they’ve even been touched by human hands — but, of course, they have been. Popular Science got a look inside the Henckels factory in Germany, and discovered that it takes three weeks to finish a single blade, in a process that incorporates both robots and highly-skilled humans.
